Asia’s culinary event of the year held at the Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich from December 9th – 11th, dazzled the epicureans of Guangzhou with a spectacular culinary masterpiece of French savoir faire.
2015 marks the 30th anniversary of AccorHotels Greater China. To celebrate this milestone, Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich hosted 8 celebrated Chefs from 4 countries with a collective 9 Michelin Stars. The event series featured 10 dinners, 4 “up close & personal” lunches, 2 afternoon teas and 1 very unique stadium challenge where 4 teams / restaurants went head to head in a Michelin Star culinary extravaganza.
The epic Star Chef Stadium Challenge on December 11th, featured the pairings of Bruno Menard and Gael Etrillard; Stephane Chambon and Justin Quek; Viki Geunes and Luis Gonzalez; Sébastien Broda and Jean-Francois Nulli; with each team accompanied by 2 Accor Luxury & Upscale Executive Chefs to support the star chefs. In a production build never been seen before, the 4 Michelin Starred restaurants went head to head in a cooking showdown for an audience of 100 people. The judges on the night included Sofitel Greater China Regional Director of F&B Mr. Cory Winter, the owner and proprietor of Social & Co Guangzhou Mr. Aaron McKenzie and General Manager of fashion elite English magazine Paper Ms. Leona Chow. Team Orange led by Viki Geunes and Luis Gonzalez won the challenge with a tantalizing display of molecular gastronomy!
